Biology Educator Leadership Scholarship (BELS)
The Biology Educator Leadership Scholarship (BELS) program was established to encourage and support teachers who want to further their education in the life sciences or life science education. The award recipient is required to be a practicing educator who is also enrolled (or anticipates enrolling) in a graduate program at Masters or Doctoral level.
Eligibility: NABT members with less than or equal to ten years of teaching experience are eligible to apply if they are currently teaching or their certification status is in progress.
Selection Process: Awards are based on a combination of academic merit, professional promise, financial need, and academic or professional recommendation. Preference will be given to those individuals who will be teaching in a high needs school district (high poverty, low performing).
